History

W. H. Gaston Middle School is a Dallas public school that serves grades 6-8. It is named after William Henry Gaston, one of the original settlers of Dallas. The school first opened its doors in September 1913 as Gaston School, a two-story elementary school serving grades 1-8. In June 1930, the school was renamed W. H. Gaston Elementary School and became a K-5 school. In September 1971, the school became W. H. Gaston Middle School and moved to its current location on Ewing Avenue, where it serves grades 6-8. The school has been recognized for its academic excellence, and in 2014 was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. W. H.
