Robert Thomas Hill Junior High School in Dallas TX was established in the year 1971. The school is named after Robert Thomas Hill, who served as the Superintendent of Dallas ISD from 1965 to 1971. During the 1971-1972 school year, the first year of operation, Hill Junior High School had an enrollment of 1,062 students in grades six through eight. The faculty consisted of thirty-seven teachers, three counselors, one librarian, and one nurse. The student-teacher ratio was 29:1. The school was built to relieve overcrowding at nearby Dan D. Rogers Elementary School and William B. Travis Elementary School. When it opened, Hill Junior High School took in students from those two schools as well as students from Rosemont Elementary School and J.L. Long Middle School.
