Robert Thomas Hill Junior High School in Dallas TX was established in the year 1971. The school is named after Robert Thomas Hill, who served as the Superintendent of Dallas ISD from 1965 to 1971. The school originally served grades six through eight but was converted to a middle school serving grades five through eight in the fall of 2009. As of the 2017-2018 school year, the school had an enrollment of 597 students and 42 faculty members. The school’s mascot is the panther, and its colors are blue and white. The school is located in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas.

During the 1971-1972 school year, the first year of operation, Hill Junior High School had an enrollment of 1,062 students in grades six through eight. The faculty consisted of thirty-seven teachers, three counselors, one librarian, and one nurse. The student-teacher ratio was 29:1. The school was built to relieve overcrowding at nearby Dan D. Rogers Elementary School and William B. Travis Elementary School. When it opened, Hill Junior High School took in students from those two schools as well as students from Rosemont Elementary School and J.L. Long Middle School.

In May 1972, the Dallas ISD board of trustees voted to rename Robert E. Lee Elementary School to Robert T. Hill Elementary School, in honor of the recently retired superintendent. In September 2009, the Dallas ISD board of trustees voted to convert Hill Junior High School into a middle school serving grades five through eight. The conversion was made in order to reduce overcrowding at nearby middle schools and to better prepare students for high school.
